/ The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) warned on Monday that ISIS is gathering 10,000 undercover fighters.
The SDF’s warning comes shortly after the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that the terrorist organization ISIS had killed more than 100 civilians and soldiers in 50 operations carried out on Syrian territory since the beginning of this year, despite the announcement of its actual defeat years ago.
The media spokesman for the “SDF”, Saimand Ali, confirmed the arrest of ISIS elements in the city of Hasakah in eastern Syria, noting that the evidence and slogans suggest that the organization has begun individual and collective operations to target military forces, tribal leaders, and even employees in the self-administration.
He pointed out that this indicates that the organization is still capable of committing terrorist crimes, and he also explained that the operations of his forces against the organization indicate that ISIS has begun to regroup.
In response to a question about the number of members of the organization, the official said that there are no clear numbers, but estimates indicate that there are more than 10,000 ISIS fighters operating in Syria in general, according to him.
In contrast, combing operations by the Syrian army forces and their loyalists continue, while the Russian air force has recently escalated its targeting of sites where ISIS elements are hiding in the Syrian desert.
According to statistics from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, since the beginning of this year, ISIS cells have carried out 50 separate operations in the desert, through ambushes, armed attacks, and bombings in the western Euphrates and the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Raqqa, and Homs.
It is noteworthy that the complete victory over the terrorist organization ISIS was declared and its control over an entire geographical area of Syrian territory ended in 2019.
However, the death toll during military operations in the Syrian desert, according to the Syrian Observatory’s documentation, has reached 116 dead since the beginning of 2024, including 101 from the Syrian army forces and their loyalists, including 13 from the pro-Iranian groups of Syrian nationality, in addition to 5 civilians while collecting truffles. The killing of 10 people, including a child, was also documented in the organization’s attacks in the desert.
