Castlebar, Ireland – february 1, 2026 – Sean Neary, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, unexpectedly passed away at Mayo University Hospital, leaving a community in mourning.

A Life Remembered: Sean Neary’s Passing at 82

The Castlebar community is reeling from the sudden loss of Sean Neary, a man deeply cherished by his family and friends.

  • Reposing will be held at his home on Tuesday, February 3rd, with the funeral Mass on Wednesday, February 4th, at St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyheane.
  • The family requests donations to the Irish Lung Fibrosis Association in lieu of flowers.

Sean, formerly of Magherafadda, Ballyheane, was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Mary, and his sister, Bridie. he is deeply mourned by his loving wife, Caroline; his daughters, Serena, Karen, and Sarah; his grandchildren, Emily, Owen, and Sean; his brothers, Peter, Mattie, Seamus, and Tom; his sisters-in-law, Jenny, Martina, Veronica, Maria, Chrisy, and Joan; his brothers-in-law, Tommy, John, Benny, and Dick; and a wide circle of family, relations, and friends.

Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories and condolences, with a book of condolence available through Kilcoyne Funeral Directors.

Sean will repose at his home, 71 Rowan drive, Castlebar F23 D594, on Tuesday, February 3rd, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The family requests privacy outside of these hours, except for close family and friends.

The funeral will arrive at St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyheane, on Wednesday, February 4th, for Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Following the Mass, Sean will be laid to rest in Ballyheane Cemetery.

For those unable to attend in person, the Funeral Mass will be live streamed on www.churchtv.ie/ballyheane.

The family has requested that family flowers be omitted. Donations, if desired, may be made to ILFA – Irish Lung Fibrosis Association c/o Kilcoyne Funeral Directors, Thomas Street, Castlebar.
