Kochi: A foreign beautician was cut down by her ex-boyfriend in the middle of the road due to love. They were admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Kochi with deep injuries on their arms and back. Sandhya (25), a native of West Bengal, was the victim of cruelty. The police intensified their search for their former friend Farooq, a native of West Bengal, who escaped on a bike.
The incident took place on Kalur Azad Road at around 11 am yesterday. Farooq was on his way to work in Kalur along with his female friend when they were stopped. During the argument, he was attacked with a machete. When the local residents also arrived, he escaped on a bike at high speed.
Sandhya and Farooq worked together at a spa in Kollam. Sandhya left her job two weeks ago and went to Kochi after the romance that started there broke down. The police said that it was the enmity of this that prompted Farooq to commit cruelty. Police believe that Farooq, who got a job at a spa in Tripunithura, arrived yesterday after monitoring Sandhya’s movements.
He tried to stab Sandhya’s hair and cut her neck. His friend and Sandhya stopped the attempt and got cut on his hand and back. The police said that Sandhya had overcome the danger. Sandhya started working at the spa in Kalur eight days ago.
