Alarm was raised in Gavdos after authorities reported that a German man has been missing since yesterday afternoon.
Nills, who permanently resides on the island, did not show up yesterday afternoon at the canteen where he works.
The police and the fire department quickly mobilized to locate the foreign man, who has been living on the island for the past decade.
According to information from ERT Chania, it concerns Nills, of German origin, who did not show up yesterday afternoon at the canteen where he works in the Agios Ioannis area.
As soon as his disappearance became known, people who know him went to the old house where he lives, above the Agios Ioannis settlement. There, they found his food untouched, but no sign of him.
Major mobilization
The police, the fire department, as well as people from the Gavdos Municipality and campers living on the island were immediately notified, and they began searching the area’s trails without results so far.
According to the same source, a well-known shipowner is on the island, who, as reported, will provide his helicopter to assist in the searches.
A relevant announcement regarding the disappearance of the 50-year-old was also made in a group of friends of Gavdos on social media. Those who know Nills say that a similar incident has happened in the past and hope to hear news of him soon.
