A source close to the investigation said that the suspicion that this was a serial killer working systematically arose after detectives noticed similarities at the murder scenes when the victims found were sexually assaulted, murdered and then their bodies dismembered.

The latest victim was 31-year-old Viridiana Moreno Vasquez and the mother of a 10-year-old boy who responded to one of the killer’s fake ads. “The body was so mutilated that we needed a forensic expert and pathologists to identify it,” said one of the detectives investigating Vasquez’s murder.

A search operation at Roman’s home after his arrest revealed the clothes Vasquez was wearing on the day of the murder. Since the affair exploded, it has become clear that he is a sex offender known to the police. In 2012 he was charged with raping a 12-year-old girl, and even ran a prison sentence for raping a minor under the age of 13. If convicted now of the offenses attributed to him, Roman could face up to 20 to 50 years in prison for each murder charge in the indictment.
