In “Tatort: Look at Me,” investigators Batic, Leitmayr and Hammermann are dealing with a brutal serial killer. The result is not easy fare.
Next Sunday at prime time, Erste will broadcast a new “Tatort”. The episode “Look at Me” is about a masked serial killer from Vienna who may have started his terrible crimes with atrocities against puppies. The “Tatort” team receives support from Commissioner Moritz Eisner from Vienna. Joshua Kimmich is back as another guest star.
That’s what it’s about
A horribly mauled body is found in a sewer beneath Munich Central Station. During their investigation, detectives Ivo Batic (played by Miroslav Nemec), Franz Leitmayr (Udo Wachtveitl) and the charmingly emancipating Kalli Hammermann (Ferdinand Hofer) come across a gruesome scene on the Internet. Among other things, video clips of an unknown masked man killing puppies in front of the camera are consumed and celebrated there.
With the help of their Austrian colleague Moritz Eisner (Harald Krassnitzer), who answers questions via video call, the Munich investigators are able to establish a connection between the cases. At the same time, it quickly becomes clear that the murderer could soon strike again. In their search for the cruel perpetrator, the investigative team must venture into the disturbing world of violence displayed on the Internet…
Is it worth turning on?
Yes – although this crime thriller is definitely heavy fare. But that is already clear before the actual film begins, because in the opening credits the audience is given important information: “No animals were harmed during the filming of this film.” Of course, the images in your head are difficult to bear, and not just for dog fans.
An employee of an addiction counseling center summarizes the whole madness as follows: “They can do anything on the Internet: buy weapons, abuse women and children, have mothers feed them their babies… even material that is difficult to bear is accessible to children and young people. About that Hardly anyone gets upset.
But there is one thing you are not allowed to do: torture or kill animals. “The community really resents you for that,” says Lisa Berger (Aenne Schwarz). This explains why this community followed the wanted “Jerome Dahmer” and was able to locate him in Vienna – the similarity of the name with the US -Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is no coincidence.
Between the hard and sometimes very exciting sequences and a completely unexpected twist, the crime makers in the 95th case serve Batic and Leitmayr with a good dose of dachshund love and tips from fitness influencer Kenny alias Joshua Kimmich to help them breathe a sigh of relief. The 29-year-old football star made his first appearance in this role a year ago in “Tatort: Hackl”.
