Paris 2024: Sebastian Bermúdez’s qualifying results
On a sunny morning, the 30 shooters went out in search of the targets to achieve the highest number of points that would allow them to be in the first places, among them the Guatemalan Sebastián Bermúdez, who is participating in his first Olympic Games.
The Guatemalan started the qualifying round in the first round with a score of 23 knocked over plates, of 25, which had placed him in the middle of the table. However, in the second round he managed to recover by making a perfect shot by knocking down all the targets and getting a 25.
By the third round of the day, Sebastian did not have the best shot, as he only managed to knock down 21 plates, placing him in the first day of competition in 24th place with 69 points.
Results of the first day of skeet classification
After 75 targets at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, the current leaderboard is dominated Olympic champion from Tokyo 2020, the American Vincent Hancockwho had an inspired morning and knocked down all the plates, leaving no option for his rivals.
However, the print run has been very even, as the first places has been close to perfection. As four shooters add 74 points tied for second place, they are: Lyn Prince of the United States, Yuan Lee of Chinese Taipei, Eric Delaunay and Tammaro Cassandro of Italy.
Second day of qualifying and the grand final
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, the 30 shooters will meet again at the Chateauroux Shooting Center to compete in two more rounds of 25 targets each, to complete the 125 of the classification and thus determine who will be the six competitors who will fight for the skeet medals.
He Guatemalan will go out again in search of the perfect shots that will allow him to be among the World’s greatest and continue the tradition of his teammates, Jean Pierre Brol in Olympic trap and Adriana Ruano in women’s Olympic trap, who competed in the finals and won the medals.
For Sebastian, this will be a great opportunity to participate in an unforgettable competition. His father, Cristian, also competed in the Olympic Games, in Barcelona 1992, and all eyes will be on his participation.
Guatemala participates with 16 athletes qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024, of which six selected are still in the competition. How cool!
