What about the future of cinema? Sebastian Koch thinks about it and formulates a wish.

Berlin.

Actor Sebastian Koch hopes for a future for the big screen. “The ardent wish is that the cinema will always be and hopefully survive this corona madness,” said Koch of the German Press Agency in Berlin.

“This space and the screen are an incredibly great meeting place. The cinema is the queen of the arts. If that no longer exists, it would be a shame. You can convey such subtle emotions there.”

“I will never forget how we saw “The Lives of Others” on the Piazza Grande in Locarno in front of thousands of people,” said Koch, who turns 60 on Tuesday. “When 9,000 people smile at the same time – I still get goosebumps when I talk about it. That’s impressive.”

The film about East German state security, in which Koch starred, won an Oscar a few years ago. Koch has appeared in many films. The actor sees cinema facing challenges. “To come back to reality: It’s a tough fight right now. It’s going to be difficult. Do I think cinema will survive? I sincerely wish it would.” (dpa)
