Second Health Day with free services for children and adults in Guatemala City

Second Health Day in the Industry Park

For two days, Guatemalans of all ages will have the opportunity to receive free medical services on the second Health Daywhich will take place in the Industry Park. More than 3,500 people are expected to attend to take advantage of free consultations, exams and vaccines, in an initiative aimed at improving access to health in the country.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, in room 9 and area 8/9 of the Parque de la Industria, located on 8a. Calle 2-33, Zone 9 of Guatemala City. This day is possible thanks to the joint effort of several public and private institutions specialized in health, with the aim of offering comprehensive services that promote the well-being of the population.

Medical services available

During the day, they will provide medical checkups for adults and children, covering various specialties. Attendees will be able to access general medicine, internal medicine, traumatology, ophthalmology and pediatrics consultations. In addition, risk assessments for heart disease, weight and height control, as well as nutritional and diabetes assessments will be carried out.

Other services include gynecology, physical therapy, taking six vital signs and referrals for contraceptive operations. Evaluations will also be offered to identify physical risk factors and special attention will be provided to people with flat feet and disabilities, among others.

Micronutrients will be delivered, supplements foodVitamin A and dewormers; and also folic acid and ferrous sulfate to women at different stages of their life. Parents will be able to bring their children so they can apply fluoride and receive oral hygiene kits.

Among the exams that will be performed are: ocular screening and primary eye examination; hearing screening and primary ear examination; glucose tests, osteopenia examination, Pap smear and tests to detect womb cancer. Regarding the latter, if precancerous lesions are detected, immediate treatment will be offered. Rapid laboratory tests for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C will also be available with a medical checkup. In the case of the vaccinesthere will be more than 15 available, including Tetanus, HPV, Diphtheria and Measles.

Complementary activities for attendees

Health Day will not only focus on medical services, but will also offer a series of recreational and educational activities for Guatemalans who attend. There will be talks on important topics such as eye and hearing health, as well as the emotional impact of receiving a diagnosis. Issues such as dry skin in diabetic patients, mental health care and psychosocial support will also be addressed.

Zumba, rhythmic gymnastics and Tai Chi classes will also be taught, cultural activities such as karaoke, a guitar presentation and a play will be held. Seniors will be able to enjoy crafts, family board games and face painting, balloons, gift certificates and an electronic raffle.
