“At approximately 5:22 a.m. Monday, airport duty staff noticed a fire in the rental car area through the airport’s CCTV system,” the airport’s statement read, “the staff activated the alert system and responded to the fire at the airport, fire units of Nantucket and the Nantucket Police Department quickly arrived on the scene.”
Biden spent the festive Thanksgiving weekend in Nantucket with his family, telling reporters they had not had any discussions about a potential 2024 presidential run.
The Biden family has a more than 40-year tradition of spending Thanksgiving on the island. Holiday and late summer trips are not uncommon for US presidents. Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump have all taken similar vacations throughout their terms in office. Bush would often spend time at his ranch in Texas, while Obama and Trump both favored golf resorts in New England .
