The construction of sections of the first three lots of the “Hemus” highway continues at an accelerated pace, the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) informs.
Section 1 is nearly 15 km long and includes the section from Boaza to the crossing of the Lukovit-Ugarchin road, including p. in “Dermantsi”. The construction and installation activities in the section are approximately 68% completed, writes BTA. Underpasses and overpasses at the 88th km, 89th km, 95th km and 96th km have been completed. Currently work is being done to strengthen the slopes, on the bridges and other large facilities along the route, and in some places cement stabilization is being carried out network, the external functional lighting of the “Dermantsi” station and the power supply of the substation, reports the API.
The Agency also adds that 30 percent of the activities in Section 2 of the highway have been completed. The section that starts from the end of the road junction “Dermantsi” (intersection with road III-307) and reaches the intersection with road III-3005, including the road junction “Kalenik”, is nearly 19 km long. Earthworks along the direct route are approximately 50% completed. Drainage, paving, concrete, formwork and reinforcement works are being carried out. Preparations for the construction and assembly works on the “Ugarchin” and “Kalenik” road junctions are nearly 80 percent complete and are almost complete, according to the API.
In section 3 – from the end of the p.v. “Kalenik” to the intersection with road II-35, including the “Pleven” highway, the reconstruction of optical and telecommunication cables, as well as the reconstruction of water pipes, at the 138th km, part of the project, has been completely completed. The massive concrete and reinforced concrete structures of the facilities on the 133rd km and 135th km are about 80% completed. Earth and asphalt works along the main route, as well as drainage, concrete, formwork and reinforcement works, are actively being carried out, the Agency informs.
The implementation of the construction and assembly activities, which are carried out on the “Botevgrad-Mezdra” route, is progressing. In the underpass of the “Mezdra” railway station /at km 161+665/, the railway and the sleepers from the route of the Mezdra railway line are being dismantled – Russian Bella, and the contact network is completely removed. The activities on the facility are part of the modernization of the I-1 Mezdra – Botevgrad road in the section from the 161st to the 194th km. At the end of June, the works on the completion of the road junctions on two levels – “Mezdra”, “Darmantsi” and “Rebarkovo” were resumed, the information also indicates. On the overpass over the railway line at the “Mezdra” railway station, the asphalt concrete and leveling was removed concrete. The new road slab is ready and the paving blocks are being built. The existing 2 facilities have been demolished. Work is underway on the excavation for the foundations. The road base has been removed and excavation works are being carried out along the direct route and along the road connections, the API specifies. From there, they add that the lower construction of the p.v. “Darmantsi” has been completed. Currently, work is being done on the construction of columns and beams, excavation and embankment works are being carried out, and the existing asphalt concrete has been destroyed. The road connection to the village of Darmantsi and culverts are being built.
In the section from km 171 to km 175, major facilities are being worked on. In the area of the 172nd km, the construction of two bridges is planned, one of which is completed, and the second is at the stage of construction, including pavement blocks. Elastic fences and railings are installed. A protective coating has been applied to all exposed concrete surfaces. The construction activities in the section between Mezdra and Novachene /from the 161st km to the 175th km/ are 67% completed. The activities on lot 1 – the section from the 175th km to the 194th km, of the modernization of the road I-1 Mezdra – Botevgrad are nearly 73% completed. 4 major facilities are currently being worked on, these are the bridges at km 181, km 182, km 175 and km 176. Correction of a river valley at the 180th km is being carried out, and a number of small facilities – culverts and retaining walls, as well as drains and drainage – are being implemented. In some places, a lower asphalt mixture is being laid, the API also informs.
Sections 4, 5, 6 and 9 of the “Hemus” highway are secured and their construction is planned to begin by the end of 2024.
