Focusing on the mission assigned to it, the Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (APDP-Benin) proceeded, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, to open a training workshop for the benefit of airline agents and travel agencies. Objective: to inform them of the issue and importance of protecting citizens’ personal data.

In the context of the accelerated digital revolution, the Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (APDP-Benin) is carrying out major projects on the training of the various players in the digital economy to secure the personal information collected. In this dynamic, he launched, on Tuesday September 17, 2024, the training workshop for airline and travel agency agents, on the protection of personal data of citizens or their customers. Coming after several other training courses such as those for Anip agents and many others, this training session aims to help airlines and travel agencies comply with the personal data protection system in place in the Republic of Benin. Even better, it involves the beneficiaries having a perfect understanding of the rights and duties in relation to the protection of personal data and the possible remedies in case of non-compliance with the law on the digital code in the Republic of Benin. Remembering that the interconnection of the world, thanks to digital technology, now leads to the proper management of personal data, the President of the APDP, Luciano Hounkponou, indicated in his opening remarks, that the personal information collected, processed and which is now stored as “a major issue in our modern society”. “We are therefore here to accompany you and support you in this mission as critical as it is delicate”, he will announce, before adding: “Through this structured and enriched training course, our objective is not only provide you with tools, but also basic fundamentals. information. We want to enable you to not only understand the statutory and regulatory aspects of data protection, but also to apply them proactively and effectively in all your activities.” Over the past three (03) days, this training workshop focuses on a series of themes such as: the basic principles governing the protection of personal information, the inalienable rights of users, as well as the necessary best practices to be adopted when collecting, processing and managing information personal.
