PREPARATIONS ahead of the U-17 World Cup Football event in Surabaya are being intensively carried out. The security sector is a serious concern for the East Java Regional Police.

East Java (Jatim) Regional Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto inspected the readiness of the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup venue at the Gelora Bung Tomo (GBT) stadium in Surabaya.

“Today we ensure that security preparations for the U-17 World Cup match at the Gelora Bung Tomo stadium can run smoothly, safely and comfortably,” said the Regional Police Chief in Surabaya, Monday (6/11).

The East Java Regional Police Chief said that the crucial point that must be paid attention to is road access management.

“Because football fans who will come here are in ring one, ring two, the designated lanes are not allowed to enter two-wheelers and four-wheelers carelessly,” he said.

Inspector General Pol Imam Sugianto also said that later the committee would prepare shuttle buses whose routes would all lead to GBT.

Later, people who will watch and have already bought tickets will actually use the bus to enter at GBT.

“So, two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles are not allowed to enter here. Officers will arrange them at designated points, then if they don’t have a ticket to enter the GBT, they will be diverted,” he said.

The East Java Regional Police itself will also deploy 3,951 personnel, but this number is dynamic according to the dynamic situation in the field.

“We pray that everything runs smoothly, safely and comfortably,” he said. (Z-4)
