Security forces conducting operations in Jericho area following attacks in Jordan Valley.

The security forces are currently conducting an operation in the Aqabat Jaber camp near Jericho, with reports stating that they have surrounded several buildings and blocked off entry and exit points to the camp. The Palestinian Ministry of Health has reported that two terrorists have been injured and taken to Jericho hospital. The operation is not related to the Hamra intersection attack, but rather the arrest of suspects believed to be planning attacks. Minister of Defense Yoav Galant has stated that security forces are working tirelessly to keep citizens safe, and any terrorist thinking they can evade capture will be brought to justice. Earlier, four wanted individuals were arrested in Judea and Samaria, resulting in minor injuries to a soldier and officer after a shot was fired at military vehicles. The Jordan Valley has experienced a rise in terrorist elements and attacks, including a shooting at a restaurant in Almog Junction, the murder of Alan Ganels near the Dead Sea, and an attack on a vehicle with a family inside, although no one was injured.

The security forces are operating at this time (Monday) in the Aqabat Jaber camp near Jericho. According to Palestinian reports, the forces are surrounding a number of buildings on the site and at the same time the entrances and exits from the camp have been blocked. The Palestinian Ministry of Health claims that two terrorists have been injured so far and were taken to the Jericho hospital.

The operational activity in the camp is not related to the investigation of the attack at the Hamra intersection in which the late Maya and Rina Di were murdered, but to the arrest of wanted persons suspected of planning attacks. Yesterday, the Minister of Defense said Yoav Galant on a visit to northern Samaria that “the security forces work day and night to provide security to the citizens of Israel. If there is any terrorist who thinks that during the holidays he will escape the long hand of the IDF, he is wrong. Anyone who performs, even the smallest action, we will reckon with him And we will bring him to justice.’

The operational activity takes place after the security forces arrested four wanted persons throughout Judea and Samaria tonight. During the operation, an officer and a soldier were slightly injured after a shot was fired at military vehicles and as a result the two were hit by shrapnel and were taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

The number of attacks in the Jordan Valley and the rise of terrorist elements in this sector are additional characteristics of the recent escalation, after relatively quiet years. As you may remember, on January 28 two terrorists tried to carry out a shooting attack at a restaurant in Almog Junction, but due to being stopped with weapons they stopped shooting and fled the scene.

About a month later, the late 27-year-old Alan Ganels was murdered in a shooting attack near the Dead Sea. After that, the terrorists carried out another shooting attack at the Almog intersection and hit a vehicle with a family in it, with no casualties.
