Security operation begins at the racetrack for the Mexican GP

By instructions of the head of Government of CDMX, Clara Brugadathe Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) reported that it will launch a security operation in the vicinity and inside the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome within the framework of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Mexico City.

Brugada revealed that the operation will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25 and will consist of security, road, surveillance and prevention devices implemented during all activities, to conclude on Sunday, October 27 at the end of the race.

During the operation, 550 SSC police officers will be deployed, supported by 297 official vehicles, four ambulances and a condor helicopter.

For its part, the Undersecretary of Traffic Control will deploy 600 elements supported by 65 patrol cars, 12 tow trucks and 70 motorcycle patrols to carry out road control tasks and guarantee the free movement of motorists as well as regulate parking on the streets surrounding the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

More than 1,500 elements of the Banking and Industrial Police (PBI) Supported by six canine pairs, they will be in charge of security inside the racetrack, at the entrances to the stands, food consumption area, ATMs and other defined areas.

The SSC also reported on the installation of three tactical surveillance towers at gates 6 and 12 of the autodrome and on the avenues, Circuito Bicentenario, Río Churubusco and Viaducto Río de la Piedad.

Given the road chaos that could occur, the SSC shared some recommendations for road alternatives for motorists who need to travel through the area.

  • To the North: Axis 1 North Rayón, Axis 2 North Manuel González, Axis 3 North Ángel Albino Corso and Axis 4 North Talismán
  • To the South: Axis 5 South La Purísima, Axis 6 South Social Workers and Axis 8 South Calzada Ermita Iztapalapa.
  • To the East: Eje 5 Oriente Javier Rojo Gómez and Canal de San Juan Peripheral Ring.
  • To the West: Axis 2 East H Congress of the Union, Axis 1 East Ring Road, Central Axis Lázaro Cárdenas, Axis 1 West Cuauhtémoc and Insurgentes Avenue.

In addition, they urged those attending the event to keep an eye on minors and take care of their belongings, as well as request support from security elements in case of any eventuality.
