The security that now prevails throughout the national territory, thanks to the Territorial Control Plan and the state of exception promoted by the Government of President Nayib Bukele, has allowed micro and small businesses to invest in ventures that favor economic development.

The president of the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises (CONAMYPE), Paul Steiner, stated that, on a national scale, the growth of enterprises such as retail sales has increased. In the country there is “almost a 25% growth in retail outlets. They are neighborhood stores, neighborhood stores,” the official reported this Wednesday in an interview for Telecorporación Salvadoreña.

In the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador alone, this business growth has risen to 65%, while in places like Apopa these ventures have increased by up to 220% and in communities like La Campanera, in the district of Soyapango, they have done so by up to 319%, added the president of Conamype.

“What does that mean? The great benefit of the work that President Bukele has done on the issue of security is already being felt in the confidence of people to invest their savings in starting their own business,” he said.

He added that, although “we are seeing a lot of confidence in investing on the part of micro and small businesses, one of their biggest obstacles is that they have to access financing.”

In this regard, he highlighted the initiatives of President Nayib Bukele’s Government to provide this financial support, including the non-reimbursable seed capital that Conamype provides with the support of the Korean government for entrepreneurs who participate in the business incubation diploma course, taught by the institution.

Through this effort, he explained, $484,000 was given to 54 companies last year, funds that allowed them to invoice $1.2 million during the first six months of this year. Likewise, last week more than $400,000 was given to 48 companies that were part of the second generation of the diploma.
