Amritsar: Congress leader and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, 28, was shot dead by gunmen in Amritsar on Friday. The shooting took place in Mansa district of Punjab. Two others were injured in the shooting. Sidhu’s security was withdrawn by the Punjab government on Saturday. This was followed by the incident.
The government has withdrawn the security of 424 people, including Sidhu. The attack took place when Sidhu and two of his friends were on their way to Mansa. The attackers reportedly fired 30 rounds at Sidhu. Police said the shooters have not yet been identified.
Sidhu joined the Congress in December last year. In the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, Mansa contested on a Congress ticket but lost to Vijay Singla of the Aam Aadmi Party. Sidhu Musewala’s real name is Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu.
