Sedema inaugurates artistic intervention at the Chapultepec Museum of Natural History

The Ministry of the Environment (Sedema) local, together with foundations, inaugurated the intervention of the Mexican artist Pedro Friedeberg in the vaults of the Museum of Natural History and Environmental Culture in it Chapultepec Forest.

The museum, located in the Second Section Chapultepec Forest, underwent a remodeling and rehabilitation of its facilities to recover the grandeur that it had lost over the years; however, those in charge of these tasks considered that the way to crown the maintenance would be through paintings on the outside of the vaults.

Thus, they chose the artist Pedro Friedeberg to design the works that now adorn the exterior of the vaults, a work that, it should be noted, was donated by the author.

During the inauguration of the artistic intervention, called “Symphony of Life: Geometries of the Universe”, the owner of the the reason Marina Roblesacknowledged the work of Friedeberg and noted that “having art gathered with the purpose of preserving life, in this emblematic space, is also a luxury and a hope.”

For his part, the artist said that it was a great honor to participate in the project, in which the objective was for the domes to have a sense of natural history, biology, zoology and relationship with everything found within them, so he indicated that some of his drawings were inspired by celestial mythology, but also by biology, and by the ancient history of our planet.

“I came up with the idea of ​​using these multi-pointed, multi-angled stars, which are also like mandalas to imitate the dome of the heavens, part of mathematics, sacred geometry, Kabbalah, mysticism, all of that is linked to biology (…) they are like biological temples, also based on Aztec, Greek, Egyptian mythology, because all mythologies and all biologies are linked,” Friedeberg stressed.

The author’s work captured on the outside of the vaults can be appreciated in all its splendor from the air, so with the upcoming inauguration of the Line 3 of the Cablebús His work will become one of the main attractions during the tour in the baskets.
