Sedesa calls for early detection of cervical cancer

The Ministry of Health (sedesa) He called for women between 25 and 64 years of age to detect in time the cervical cancer through the Pap.

In the framework of the National Day of the Fight against Cervical Cancer, the capital’s health department recalled the importance of women between 25 and 64 years of age taking the test in order to detect the disease in time and obtain timely treatment and reduce mortality due to the disease.

The Pap test, also known as cervical cytology, consists of the early detection of lesions and abnormal cells that could be precursors of cervical cancer, explained Sedesa through an information card.

Risk factors include having had a sexually transmitted disease, having been sexually active before the age of 18, unprotected sexual activity, infection by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a large number of pregnancies, malnutrition or smoking, so it is essential to go to a medical unit to have the study done.

The health department said that the test is performed free of charge at Health Centers in Mexico City, as well as at Family Medicine units and clinics of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) for their beneficiaries.
