The Baltic Sea is one of the hottest spots in the clash between NATO member states and Moscow, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine. On Wednesday, a new incident occurred in the “Flight information region(FIR) of Poland and Sweden, that is to say the airspace in the international waters of the Baltic which they ensure the surveillance. Four Russian planes deliberately entered the Warsaw FIR, before deviating towards the Stockholm FIR.

The alert was raised and two Italian Eurofighters immediately took off from Malbork airport, according to The Republic who recounts the incident. The Polish base is located 150 kilometers from the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, from where the four Sukhoi 35 had taken off without notice. In less than three minutes, the Italian pilots came into action and flanked the hostile aircraft, which ended up stalling.
