Sefrou: Three groups of world leaders in Pumped Energy Transfer Stations in the running for the ONEE El Menzel STEP project
Sefrou – Six groups of companies have submitted their applications as part of the process launched by ONEE for the selection of qualified companies for the construction of the El Menzel Pumped Energy Transfer Station (STEP), with a capacity planned for 300 to 400 MW.
“Of these six groups, three have been prequalified,” indicates ONEE in a press release.
These are:
-Groupement “CHINA INTERNATIONAL WATER & ELECTRIC CORP. / YELLOW RIVER ENGINEERING CONSULTING. CO LTD /HARBIN ELECTRIC MACHINERY COMPANY LTD / HARBIN ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL COMPANY LTD / JET CONTRACTORS.
-Groupement “SINOHYDRO /ANDRITZ HYDRO”.
-Groupement “WEBUILD S.P.A / DONGFANG ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION”.
Prequalified candidates will thus be invited to submit their technical and financial offers as part of the Call for Tenders for the construction of the El Menzel STEP, notes the press release.
Located 30 km southeast of the town of Sefrou, towards the north of the Kingdom, the El Menzel STEP is part of the ONEE equipment program for the strengthening of production works based on renewable energies.
This is the 3rd STEP developed by ONEE, part of the national strategy aimed at increasing the share of renewable energies in the energy mix to exceed 52% by 2030. This project illustrates, once again , ONEE’s commitment to strengthening energy storage and supporting the Kingdom’s energy transition.
