It was impossible to believe that during this rainy season, a real water crisis could set in a city like the capital of Foutah Djallon. However, this is the situation that the citizens of Labé are currently experiencing. According to our findings, it has been more than a month since a drop has flowed from the taps. Met on Thursday, July 11, 2024, the regional director of the Société des eaux de Guinée de Labé gave details.
“There are many causes: First, there is global warming, there are activities that are carried out at the Touru accommodation dam by local residents. Those who make brick kilns, then those who have plantations that draw water from the basin while we are taking a break. These are the different actions that contributed to the drying up of the dam. Arrangements have been made in relation to this. At the level of the authorities, I believe that they will put an end to these practices, we too at our level have made arrangements so that when the reservoir recharges, there is no longer any shutdown,” promises Éman Alouko.
Continuing, the Regional Director of the Guinea Water Company of Labé, launches an invitation to the customers of the SEG.
“The message that I am going to send to our subscribers in the historic city of Karamoko Alpha mo Labé is that it is really beyond our control that we remain without giving them the water that is the source of life. In two weeks, I am sure that we will resume service and everything will return to normal,” he adds.
