SEGULA Technologies supports the industrial deployment of its client ACC in France and Europe

by time news

The global engineering group SEGULA Technologies has announced its collaboration and support in the industrial deployment of ACC battery technology, to develop 3 gigafactories for the production of batteries and modules for electric vehicles. In these macro plants, SEGULA will cover all manufacturing phases, supporting the industrialization of the entire production process of batteries and modules.

This partnership arises at a time when the European automobile market is rapidly becoming electrified, and the need for batteries to equip this type of vehicle is increasing. In fact, According to the European Commission, the demand for these will multiply by 12 between 2018 and 2030.

After two years working at the ACC R&D center in Bruges (France) and at the Nersac pilot plant where it has mobilized more than 50 engineers, SEGULA Technologies has developed solid experience in this field. Thanks to this, it joins this great project located in Hauts-de-France, France, whose first production line is expected to start up at the end of 2023.

“This is a very complex project, which embodies the industry of the future, and in which we are proud to participate”, commented Franck Vigot, president of the international automotive area of SEGULA Technologies. «Our experience in launching industrial projects, acquired at the service of important players in all sectors around the world, is an important asset for this project. Our collaboration with ACC, which began two years ago, now positions us as a player in the launch of gigafactories. We hope to be able to share it in the coming years with all the engineers and experts who will work in this extraordinary plant, the first of its kind in France”.

“SEGULA Technologies has proven its ability to successfully support manufacturers in all phases of their development. For this reason, we are delighted to have your contribution to the start-up of our plants. Having them by our side allows us to speed up the start-up of our gigafactories, since time will be key when it comes to gaining competitiveness in this area. SEGULA’s experience, the tools they make available to us and their ability to react are essential elements that we are already putting in value. We share the same ambition for the project and the same desire to apply the best standards of operational excellence. Together we will be able to launch an exceptional industrial project”, says Yann Vincent, CEO of ACC.

Unprecedented dimensions full of job opportunities

The gigafactory located in Billy-Berclau is the first industrial phase of ACC’s roadmap. The company intends to reach an installed capacity of 120 GWh before 2030 in the three European centers. The dimensions of this plant are unprecedented. The first building will house an assembly line 650 meters long, 100 meters wide and 13 meters high, with a production capacity of 13 GWh.

This factory will be a pioneer in the French industrial scene and an opportunity for qualified profiles seeking new job challenges and innovation. “We will hire more than 300 people in the next two years and we will look for experts in engineering, high voltage electricity, automation, etc.” says Franck Vigot. “In addition, we will have an international talent pool and we are convinced that it will be a focus of attraction for engineers seeking new challenges, mobility and multicultural experience. We will support the team with tailor-made training. Contributing to creating a model of what the factory of the future will be is without a doubt a professional opportunity that does not present itself every day”.
