Seizure of drug pills at an unprecedented rate in Asia

by time news

The United Nations says more than 1 billion methamphetamine pills were seized last year in eastern and southeastern Asia.

Southeast Asian countries such as Myanmar, Laos and Thailand are notorious for drug trafficking.

Such measures are believed to be easy because those countries’ border security is so detrimental.

However, the United Nations Drug Enforcement Administration said 172 tons of methamphetamine tablets were seized in the past year alone.

It was mentioned that it was 7 times more than the amount of pills confiscated ten years ago.

The availability of large quantities of tablets is said to have reduced the price of such tablets in Malaysia and Thailand.
