Seizure of fraudulent Burundian products in Kirundo in transit to Rwanda –

Fight against economic fraud and preservation of national wealth: Burundi seizes tons of Burundian foodstuffs intended for the Rwandan market.

Butanyerera (Kirundo, Commune de Ntega), 10/06/2023 – As part of Burundi’s economic policy, last Saturday, M. Mbanzabugabo Pierre Claver, Communal Administrator of Ntegaannounced the seizure more than 2.5 tons of beans and more than 2 tons of fraudulent rice in transit to Rwanda. This operation was carried out by local agents of the National Police of Burundi (PNB) with the aim of fight against fraudulent practices of Burundian resources. Mr. Mbanzabugabo warned anti-patriotic fraudulent traders and called on the population to “preserve the wealth of Burundi” which is intended above all to meet the needs of the Barundi first.

Since Rwanda’s economy is closely linked to global markets, it is important to highlight that neighboring country Rwanda plays a role in the Great Lakes region as a GUAN actor [1]. In Burundi, everything that touches or is related to GUAN is a question of Barundi Defense Policy.
