Selena Gomez to Portray Linda Ronstadt in Upcoming Biopic

Selena Gomez has been confirmed to play the role of Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic, as reported by Rolling Stone. The news came after Gomez posted an Instagram Story of Ronstadt’s 2013 memoir, “Simple Dreams.” The biopic is currently in pre-production, with Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan, and James Keach co-producing. Additional details about casting and the release date have not yet been announced.

Both Ronstadt and Gomez share Mexican heritage, with Ronstadt releasing an album in 2022 titled “Feels Like Home” that highlighted her heritage and Sonoran recipes. The 2020 film “Linda and the Mockingbirds,” directed by Keach, showcased her visit to Mexico and collaboration with students at Los Cenzontles Cultural Arts Academy.

The documentary “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” released in 2019, traced Ronstadt’s multi-genre career spanning nearly five decades. Despite retiring from singing in 2012 due to a Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis, Ronstadt’s legacy is being reintroduced to a new generation through the upcoming biopic.

Previous successful biopics about music legends like Queen, Elton John, Mötley Crüe, and Elvis Presley have introduced their music to new audiences, and it is expected that the same will happen for Ronstadt after the release of her biopic.
