Judo Club Expands Safety Training with New Self-Defense Experts
A growing emphasis on personal safety has led the Mifune St. Pölten judo section to bolster its offerings with specialized self-defense training, recently qualifying Patrick Spiegel and Christina Spiegel as certified instructors in the field. This initiative aims to equip athletes – both children and adults – with crucial skills extending beyond traditional judo techniques.
The intensive training program focused on a holistic approach to self-protection, encompassing not only physical techniques but also vital elements like de-escalation strategies, understanding body language, effective rescue techniques, and modern self-protection methodologies.
“It was important for us to build up additional expertise in the areas of safety and prevention beyond judo,” explained a senior official at the club. The new training is designed to seamlessly complement the existing judo curriculum, providing a more comprehensive safety net for members.
According to Christina Spiegel, self-defense is far more than just physical prowess. “Self-defense doesn’t just mean technique. It starts in the head: with attention, clear communication and an understanding of risk and stressful situations.” This mental preparedness is a cornerstone of the program, fostering awareness and proactive thinking.
The Mifune Judo Section plans to integrate these newly acquired skills into regular training sessions, developing specific self-protection modules and potentially offering additional specialized courses in the future. The goal is to empower athletes with practical tools for navigating everyday challenges.
“We want to give our athletes tools that will strengthen them in everyday life,” stated section management. Safety, self-confidence, and prevention are the core tenets of this expanded training program. This advancement represents a significant step towards modernizing and diversifying the section’s overall training philosophy.
The Mifune Judo Section extends its warmest congratulations to Patrick and Christina Spiegel on achieving this important milestone and anticipates continued growth and innovation in the realm of self-protection training.
