Semar seizes more than 7 tons of cocaine in Colima and Michoacán

The Secretariat of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) reported that Coast Guard personnel seized, in two different events, 7.2 tons of possible cocaine on the coasts of Colima y Michoacan.

In a first event, personnel from the Tenth Naval Region in ManzanilloColima, aboard the ARM vessel “Godínez” (PO-132) and with the support of a Panther-type helicopter, managed to secure three smaller vessels with three outboard motors, 1,100 liters of fuel and 126 packages of suspected cocaine with a weight of 5.7 tonswhich represents the largest seizure since the beginning of the administration.

During this event, the following were also made available: 15 alleged criminals.

In a second event that occurred southwest of Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacanstaff of the Fourteenth Naval Zone With the support of the interceptor patrol vessel ARM “Regulus” (PI-1115) and a Panther-type helicopter, they secured 32 marked packages that were adrift and contained possible cocaine weighing 1.6 tons.

A boat with an outboard motor was also seized in this incident.

Both the detainees and the seized material were transferred by sea to the docks of the naval commands where they were made available to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) so that the ministerial authority can integrate the corresponding files.
