by times news cr

Initiated by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the German Institute for Dialogue and Mutual Understanding “Mouatana”, this event aims to examine the interest of European intellectuals in the Holy Quran, its translation into Latin languages and the application of research processes to its texts.

This seminar also aims to discuss the factors encouraging the exacerbation of extremism and terrorism, and to debate the hostile attitude of extremist movements in Europe towards Islam and Muslims.

Speaking on the occasion, ICESCO Director-General Salim Bin Mohamed Al-Malik said that the scientific event aims to promote the values of coexistence and peace, noting that the Quran “carries within it this miraculous glow that penetrates hearts even before its meanings become clear.”

In this sense, he highlighted the need to adopt a rational approach which presupposes a strict commitment from all to respect sacred things and which defends the values of freedom of expression while respecting others.

For his part, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Morocco, Robert Dölger, noted that this event aims to “remind us of our commitment to a good understanding of this sacred text, the promotion of interreligious dialogue, and the rejection of hatred and extremism.”

Highlighting the special interest that Germany and Europe have in Islamic and Quranic studies, Mr. Dölger said that the differences in viewpoints of experts in the field provide more richness and promote a better understanding of Islam and the formative role of the Quran.

The seminar’s program includes several conferences, round tables, and meetings led by international researchers and professors, as well as the launch of the “Read it, to understand it” initiative, which aims “to make the Quranic text available in all its cognitive and miraculous splendor, so that it is accessible in a way that avoids traditional modes of presenting the Quran.”
