A one-day seminar and workshop on ‘Biotechnological Approaches to Functionality and Development of Value Added Food Products’ was held on Friday on behalf of the Department of Biotechnology, Periyar University.
Periyar University Vice-Chancellor I. Jaganathan participated in the program and inaugurated the seminar. Head of Department N. Elangovan welcomed. Prof. Ramalingam Srinivasan, Department of Horticulture and Life Sciences, South Korea Yunnam University attended and gave a special speech.

In the 2nd session, R. Srinivasan addressed the topic ‘Screening of nutritional and biological properties of fresh fermented extracts from fruits of indigenous food plants’.
In the 3rd session, MS Sivasamy spoke about ‘Functional Food Development’. After this, training was given on juice production using food and food waste. Professors Indira Arulselvi and MS Shivakumar spoke in the review function.
