The senator of Cuban origin, Marco Rubiosent a message to the people of the island in the framework of the third anniversary of the historic protests of July 11, 2021.
In a video posted on his social media, the Republican politician reiterated that communism only brings hunger and misery and does not work in any country where it is applied.
Marco Rubio also said that since the historic protests took place, “everything has gotten worse” on the island.
“We have already completed three years of these protests in the streets of Cuba, where the people raised their voices and things have been put in place, but in Cuba since then,” he pointed out.
The Florida senator also pointed out that many people remain in prison for protesting on that day, serving unjust and long sentences, while reiterating that the economy within the island continues to be a disaster, causing thousands of Cubans to flee in search of a better future in other nations.
“The economy is still in disarray, people are fleeing the country, almost five, six percent of the population has left the country in the last three years. Marxism doesn’t work, dictatorship doesn’t work and they are destroying a country that deserves freedom and we pray that this will be possible this year,” Marco Rubio said in his message to Cubans on the third anniversary of the 11J protests.
It is important to remember that on July 11, 2021, thousands of Cubans took to the streets in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, tired of the hunger and misery they were experiencing and demanding a change of system for the island, while the dictatorship only dedicated itself to repressing and arbitrarily imprisoning these protesters, after the tyrant and puppet of the Castros, Miguel Díaz-Canel, gave “the order to fight.”
