Olivier Paccaud is filling up. At the end of the senatorial elections, the 54-year-old outgoing senator (DVD) obtained a score of 41.67% and finished in first place. And above all a second seat for his “Our party is Oise” list. He thus retained his position in the Senate and allowed his running mate and mayor of Tracy-le-Mont, Sylvie Valente-Le Hir, to sit alongside him at the Luxembourg Palace. A triumph for the man who had been elected in dissent from the Les Républicains party six years ago. Especially since the latter was 50 votes away from obtaining a third seat.

“It’s a great joy to achieve such a good score but also to bring a woman into the Senate,” reacts Olivier Paccaud. And to hammer home the two key words of his victorious campaign: “Work and proximity”. “It’s the fruit of six years of work,” says Sylvie Valente-Le Hir alongside him. Still on the right, Édouard Courtial (ex-LR) also keeps his place in the upper house with a score of 16.01%.

On the other hand, it is a snub for the only right-wing senator remaining loyal to LR, Jérôme Bascher, who paid the price for Olivier Paccaud’s victory and who obtained only 11.63% of the votes. While he was absent when the results were announced, Olivier Paccaud wanted to pay tribute to his colleague. “Jérôme did not deserve to be removed from the Senate and this bitter defeat. He is a very hardworking person and I am sad for him. »

“The left continues to exist”

As for the socialist Alexandre Ouizille, 35, he succeeded in succeeding Laurence Rossignol who presented himself in Val-de-Marne, with a concern for renewal within the Oisian left. With 18.24% of the votes, he rose to second position in the election. When the results were announced, the president of the socialist group in the regional council – who will leave office in the coming weeks – did not hide his happiness at being elected.

“The idea was for the left to continue to exist. Six years ago, we were fourth and here we finished in second position, it’s a real satisfaction. » Especially since he was a newcomer. “It was an additional difficulty, especially in a department that leans to the right.” Disappointment, however, for the National Rally, whose head of list Mylène Troszcynski hoped for “a positive result”. If she did better than Michel Guiniot (3.39%) during the last elections, she only collected 6.27% of the votes and finished in 5th position.
