On the evening of Saturday August 5, Nigeria became the first African nation to win four consecutive women’s Afrobaskets. In the final, the Nigerians defeated Senegal in the final (84-74). They were up to 20 points ahead in the game, before seeing the Senegalese come back in the fourth quarter. This new continental title also allows Rena Wakama to become the first woman to win a women’s AfroBasket title as head coach.
