The 33rd African Cup of Nations took place in Cameroon. The tournament, which is held every 2 years, was attended by 24 teams. The Senegalese-Egypt teams played a multi-match series in the final the night before yesterday.
Neither team scored at the end of regular play time (90 minutes) in this lively match. No goal was scored in the 30th minute of extra time. Thus the ‘penalty shoot-out’ method was followed to determine victory and defeat.
-Senegal beat Egypt 4-2 to clinch the trophy. Senegal, who lost to Cameroon in 2002 and Algeria in 2019, have won the trophy for the first time.
