Senior American official says “time is limited” for Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar
The American administration has issued a warning to Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, stating that his time is limited. The official accused Sinwar of having the blood of dozens of Americans on his hands and holding American hostages. The official was quoted saying, “It doesn’t matter how long it takes – justice will be done as far as Sinwar is concerned.”

In the meantime, IDF forces have eliminated terrorists in the Hamas tunnels, and about 60 wanted individuals were arrested in an operation in Jenin. The official noted that Israel’s initial plans in Gaza were problematic, and actions such as flooding the Hamas tunnels with sea water are only short-term and not a long-term strategic activity.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met with Prime Minister Netanyahu and the war cabinet ministers, stating that the phase of the war in Gaza must end within weeks and transition to low-intensity fighting. President Biden also expressed his desire for Israel to be focused on saving civilian lives and to continue to target Hamas with caution.

The New York Times reported that the Biden administration wants Israel to end its extensive ground campaign in Gaza by the end of the year and transition to a more focused phase in its war against Hamas. Sullivan asked the war cabinet ministers and Netanyahu challenging questions regarding the timetable for transitioning to a low-intensity combat phase.

However, the Prime Minister’s Office stated that Israel will continue the war until all of its goals are completed. The tension between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Biden’s team has reached unprecedented heights, with growing dissatisfaction within the progressive wing of the party. Polls show increasing support for former President Donald Trump over Biden in several states.

The White House’s dissatisfaction with Netanyahu’s conduct is evident in Jake Sullivan’s visit to Israel and the network’s analysis. It raises questions about the impact of strong support for Israel on the United States’ national security goals and the upcoming presidential elections next year.
