Useful information for twelfth graders and their parents. By February 21, all high school seniors must submit applications for the matriculation exams they will take.

It is especially important for them to determine what their second compulsory matriculation exam will be, which is in a profiling subject.

At the first reading in the parliament, a change in the Law on School Education was also adopted, according to which the matriculation grades will be able to be increased.

At the capital’s 30th school, they are currently collecting applications for which matriculation exams their students will take. The deadline is from February 6 to 21.

The first compulsory matriculation exam is in Bulgarian language and literature. The second in a profiling subject, which is studied in the 11th and 12th grades. Here these are biology, chemistry, geography, Spanish, German, English.

“And this determines most often and in recent years, already as a tradition, the choice of a second subject for taking the DZI. In two thirds of the students, it is the English language subject,” said Atanaska Reyha, director of the 30th SU “Bratya Miladinovi”.

For several years, the English language has been the most preferred second matriculation in the capital.

“English language. Because German is a difficult language, I like geography, but I don’t like it so much and I know English,” commented Kremena Kalinova, 12th grade, 30th SU.

Since last year, in addition to the two mandatory and two additional matriculation exams, high school graduates have the opportunity to take two exams to validate knowledge in a subject that is not in their diploma.

For this purpose, a separate application must be submitted to the school by February 21. BGN 30 is paid for taking such an exam.

In the capital last year, about 200 students validated their knowledge. In the 30th school, there were none, but now there are those who want to validate mathematics.

“I certainly need it for the application. I want to apply for “Software Engineering”, but I don’t have the matriculation in the diploma itself, since I am not in that class,” added Tsvetan Veselinov, 12th grade, 30th SU.

The grades from these exams are recorded on a certificate, not on the diploma, and are used for applications to higher education institutions. It will be the same with the increased grades from the matriculation exams.

In the first reading, the parliament accepted that within one year of the matriculation exam, the high school seniors could increase their grade once, if it is different from a pair.

“It is not a new diploma, but an additional document that certifies the possibly higher grade. It is mostly linked to the desire to enter higher education institutions, if they need a higher grade there to be competitive “, said Vanya Kastreva, head of RUO-Sofia.

“This option allows the student to be a little more relaxed. Even if we know some things, sometimes we just forget out of worry or it doesn’t occur to us at the moment. So, yes, I think it’s an amazing option,” Veselin Simeonov, 12th, also said class, 30th SU.

It is expected that the change will be accepted in the second reading, in order to specify technically exactly how the schools will conduct the exams to increase grades, BNT reported.

This year, the compulsory matura in Bulgarian language and literature is on May 17. The second matriculation exam and the state professional qualification exam are on May 20.

The two additional matriculation exams plus the knowledge validation exams will be between May 22 and 31.
