New Delhi: The second trading day of the week on Tuesday also ended on a positive note. The BSE Sensex rose another 246 points. As a result, the stock market rose for the third day in a row.

Global market cues were mixed. As a result, trading remained sluggish in a market that had started weak. After that the bull dominates. A marginal improvement in the rupee against the US dollar helped the market. While the IT and pharma sector stocks faced selling, the banking, energy and metal sector stocks were welcomed, said brokerage firms.

1,975 Stocks Volatility: Out of total 3,454 shares traded on the BSE, 1,337 stocks fell. 1,975 shares were on the gainer list. 142 stocks remained unchanged. 98 stocks registered a new 52-week high price and 19 stocks registered a new 52-week low price. Market capitalization rose by Rs 1.15 lakh crore to close at Rs 256.55 lakh crore.

Sensex advance: The Sensex, which opened in the morning down 269.27 points at 54,251.88, only went down to 54,232.82. The Sensex, which later touched a high of 54,817.52, ended up 246.47 points (0.45 per cent) at 54,767.62.

Axis Bank advances: Only 10 out of 30 top-tier stocks on the Sensex list were in decline. 20 stocks entered the gainers list. In this, the famous private bank Axis Bank led the list with 2.35 percent and Indus Ind Bank 2.09 percent. This was followed by M&M, Tata Steel, Ultra Tech Cement, Bajaj Finsav, SBI, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, among others, which rose between 1 and 2 percent. Market leader Reliance, HDFC, NTPC, Hindustan Unilever, TCS, Maruti Suzuki and other leading companies also came in the expensive list.

Nestlé declines: Meanwhile, leading consumer goods maker Nestlé India was down 1.27 percent and IT major HCL Tech led the decliners with a decline of 1.14 percent. Also, Sunpharma, Kotak Bank, Dr. Reddy, Infosys, ITC and others came in the list of lowest price.

Nifty up 62 points: 1,196 stocks were gainers on the National Stock Exchange. 752 stocks came on the fall list. In the Nifty list, 29 stocks were gainers and 21 stocks were losers. The Nifty ended the session up 62.05 points (0.38 per cent) at 16,340.55.
