Mumbai: Indian stock markets ended the weekend trading lower. The Sensex was down 124 points (0.20 per cent) at 60,682. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty fell 37 points (0.21 per cent) to 17,856.

Stock markets started trading lower on Friday. As of 09:34 am, the Sensex was down 216.86 points at 60,589.36. The Nifty closed down 45.80 points at 17,847.65 on the NSE.

Equity markets ended lower on global markets on fears of a US recession, decline in Adani shares after index provider MSCI announced that it would downgrade four Adani Group companies, and lack of fresh factors to stimulate the market.

The Sensex fell 123.52 points to 60,682.70 by the end of trading hours. Meanwhile, the Nifty rose 36.95 points to 17,856.50 on the National Stock Exchange.

In terms of individual stocks, Tata Motors, L&T, HDFC and Nestlé India were higher. Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, M&M, Wipro, ITC, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel were the losers.
