Mumbai: Indian stock markets ended the weekend and year-end trading lower. The Sensex fell 293 points to 60,840. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty fell 85 points to 18,105.

As an extension of the previous trading day, the weekend trade started today maintaining the previous uptrend. As of 11:09 am, the Sensex was up 130.81 points at 61,264.69. The Nifty rose 42.30 points to 18,233.30 on the NSE.

Indian stock markets, which started on a bullish note amid a positive environment in global markets, remained volatile during the trading hours. The Sensex rallied to 60,744 in later trade and ended the last trading day of 2022 lower.

By the end of today’s trading hours, the Sensex was down 293.14 points at 60,840.74. At the same time, Nifty fell 85.70 points to close at 18,105.30.

Despite ending the year in decline, the Sensex was up 1.7 percent for the week. It ends with a rise of 4.4 percent in 2022. Similarly, Nifty is up 1.7 percent for the week and 4.3 percent for the year, despite falling 86 points on the last trading day.

In terms of individual stocks, Titan Company, Tata Steels, Tata Motors, Wipro, Reliance Industries and State Bank of India were bullish. Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, M&M, ITC, Nestlé India, L&T and HDFC were down.
