Mumbai: The Mumbai stock market closed higher on Tuesday. The Sensex rose 274 points (0.45 per cent) to 61,418. Meanwhile, the Nifty rose 84 points (0.46 per cent) to 18,244 on the NSE.

After a three-day slump, the stock market opened with a slight uptick on Tuesday. As of 09:50 am, the Sensex was up 85.45 points at 61,230.29. The Nifty rose 16.65 points to 18,176.60 on the national bourse.

Indian equity markets started on a positive note on Tuesday amid mixed trends in global markets, but eventually recovered from the past three-day slump and ended higher.

By the end of today’s trading hours, the Sensex was up 274.12 points at 61,418.96. Meanwhile, Nifty rose 84.25 points to 18,244.20 on the National Stock Exchange.

In terms of individual stocks, Maruti Suzuki, L&T, Tata Steels, ITC, M&M, Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Industries, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, HDFC, Asian Paints, Wipro were the gainers. Nestlé India shares fell.
