The stock market closed for the fourth day in a row on Friday, the last trading day of the week. The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex ended 86 points higher at 55,555.30, after rising and falling for most of the day.

According to global markets, Indian stock markets are also experiencing the most volatility in terms of geopolitical news. Russia-Ukraine tensions have escalated as markets prepare for the US Federal Reserve’s move, state gardens and the LIC IPO. Stockbrokers said it was uncertain for both the short- and medium-term. Meanwhile, foreign institutional investors sold another Rs 1,981.15 crore worth of shares on Thursday and withdrew their investments.

2,076 stocks rise: 2,076 out of 3,458 stocks traded higher on the Bombay Stock Exchange. 1,243 shares fell in price. 119 shares remained unchanged. 89 stocks recorded new 52-week highs and 16 stocks recorded new lows. The market capitalization rose by Rs 91,000 crore to Rs 252.85 lakh crore at the end of trading.

Progress on the fourth day: The Sensex started the morning weak and fell 414.44 points to 55,049.95. But, within minutes, it overcame all its losses and rose 369.56 points to a high of 55,833.95. The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by 85.91 points, or 0.15 per cent, to 55,550.30. Following this, the Sensex rose for the fourth day in a row.

Sunboma Aparam: 15 stocks gained in the Sensex list, which includes 30 first-class stocks. 15 stocks lost ground, with Sun Palma leading the gains by 3.82%. This was followed by Dr. Reddy’s Lab, Powgrid, ITC and Titan. Also on the list were Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Fin Chow, SBI, Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Reliance.

Nestle India, Maruti decline: On the other hand, Nestle India fell 1.76 per cent and Maruti Suzuki lost 1.38 per cent. In addition, NTPC, Axis Bank, TCS and Tata Steel lost 0.50 to 0.75 per cent. Also on the list were HDFC, Infosys, Wipro, Indus Ind Bank.

Nifty up 36 points: The National Stock Exchange gained 1,166 shares. 739 shares came on the losing list. The wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty index rose by 35.55 points, or 0.21 per cent, to close at 16,630.45. The Nifty was down 66.10 points at 16,528.80 in the morning and the Nifty was down 16,470.90. Then, the maximum rose to 16,470.90.

Nifty Auto Index Decline: The Nifty Auto Index fell 0.40 per cent on the National Stock Exchange. This was followed by a slight loss in ID and media codes. All other sub-indices came on the earnings list. Of these, the Bombay and Healthco indices rose 2.60 percent.
