Opposition leader Edappadi Palanisamy told the assembly that there was a power outage in many parts of Tamil Nadu. As the demand for electricity has increased in the summer, the Tamil Nadu government should keep coal in stock. But they do not have stock. Farmers, small and micro enterprises and students have been most affected by the power cut. In many places, people suffer from inability to sleep at night without electricity. What steps has this government taken to provide uninterrupted electricity? ”

Following this, Minister Senthilpalaji responded to the AIADMK’s attention-grabbing resolution on power cuts. He then said, “The power outage is due to the unavailability of electricity to Tamil Nadu from the central pool. Steps have been taken to procure 3,000 MW of electricity from the private sector at a reduced price. Tamil Nadu needs 72,000 tonnes of coal per day to generate electricity. But the central government has last supplied only 32,000 tonnes of coal per day.

The Chief Minister has issued an order to import coal for the next two months as the central government is allocating less coal. Power outages have occurred in only 41 places in Tamil Nadu and that too will be rectified by this evening. During the AIADMK regime, there were 68 power outages. Various schemes to increase power generation have been systematically devised. Despite the shortage of coal in Tamil Nadu, uninterrupted power supply to factories is being provided. Efforts are being made to make Tamil Nadu a power surplus state within the next 5 years.

The AIADMK walked out saying it was not satisfied with Minister Senthilpalaji’s response to the power outage.
