Senthil Balaji’s Arrest Controversy: High Court Divided on Verdict

Chennai – An ongoing legal battle has unfolded in the Chennai High Court, as Senthil Balaji’s wife, Megala, has filed a writ petition claiming that her husband’s arrest by enforcement officers in Chennai was illegal and demanding his immediate release.

The case, presided over by Justices J. Nisha Banu and D. Bharatha Chakraborty, reached a pivotal moment yesterday when both judges took contrasting stands. Justice J. Nisha Banu ruled the enforcement department’s arrest of Senthil Balaji as illegal and ordered his immediate release from custody. However, Judge D. Bharatasakkaravarthy held a different opinion, stating that there was no illegality in the arrest and allowing Senthil Balaji to receive medical treatment for ten days in a private hospital. If further treatment was required, it was to be conducted in the government hospital within the jail premises. Consequently, Judge D. Bharatasakkaravarthy dismissed the recruitment petition.

Following this division in the court, both judges recommended that the Chief Justice assign a third judge to hear the case. Acting upon this recommendation, Judge C.V. Karthikeyan was appointed to preside over the case. The court proceeded with the hearing, during which Megala, Senthil Balaji’s wife, requested an adjournment until the following day, as senior advocate Kapil Sibal would be representing them. Judge C.V. Karthikeyan granted the adjournment and suggested that if both parties agreed, he would hear the case on the upcoming Saturday.

The case has sparked significant public interest, with legal experts weighing in on the controversial arrest and questioning the grounds for Megala’s writ petition. Supporters of Senthil Balaji claim foul play and assert that the arrest was politically motivated, while others argue that the enforcement officers acted within their legal rights.

As the legal battle continues, all eyes are on the Chennai High Court, awaiting the future development of the case and the potential impact on Senthil Balaji’s political career and public image.
