Broadcaster Seo Dong-ju expressed his gratitude to the mourners who came to the funeral of his father, the late Seo Se-won.
Seo Dong-joo, who appeared as a guest on the MBC entertainment program ‘Radio Star’ aired on the 21st, opened by saying, “Last year was the most difficult time in my life.”
He continued, “My father passed away, and it wasn’t an ordinary death. It happened overseas, and from my perspective, it was a suspicious death. And the sixteen-year-old dog I was raising at the time also died on the day of my father’s funeral, so we had to hold a dog funeral right after that. My mother also suffered from cancer, and our house in the US was worthless. It was so, so hard.”
Fortunately, Seo Dong-ju said that he got through the difficult time well. He said calmly, “I usually go through things that other people go through one by one in their lives, so I worried that I would be depressed and not be able to get up, even though I am a person with good resilience. But I am the type that can endure well, so I think I got through it well.”
While saying, “There was something I was thankful for,” he said, “Many people came to my father’s funeral. I remembered each and every one of their faces, and I thought a lot about how I should live my life repaying their kindness,” expressing his gratitude to those who comforted him.
When Kim Gu-ra recalled Seo Se-won’s funeral, saying, “At that time, senior Kim Jeong-ryeol was dancing the Sungguri Dangdang in front of the memorial tablet,” Seo Dong-joo looked sad and said, “There were even malicious comments,” looking upset.
Seo Dong-ju said, “When Kim Jung-ryeol danced at that time, it wasn’t funny, I cried. It was like a high-level art. When he danced with respect for the deceased, the emotion that came from that was amazing on set. That’s why everyone cried together. At the time, I was so touched and thankful, but (the malicious comments) made me upset,” representing Kim Jung-ryeol’s sincerity.
