The city of Seoul organized a group meeting event for single men and women who have difficulty meeting the opposite sex in their busy daily lives. The man and woman who become the final couple will also be provided with a date ticket worth up to 10 million won.
The city of Seoul announced on the 20th that it will hold ‘Excitement, in Hangang’ at Sevitseom in Banpo Hangang Park on the 23rd of next month in conjunction with Woori Card. The event is aimed at single men and women aged 25 to 39 (born between 1999 and 1985) living in Seoul. Applications for participation can be submitted online from the 21st of this month to the 8th of next month. Applicants must submit documents such as a copy of resident registration, proof of employment, and marriage certificate. Seoul City plans to randomly draw 50 men and women among the applicants and notify them individually by the 18th of next month.
Participants will participate in a variety of programs, including a yacht tour of the Han River for approximately 6 hours starting at 3 PM on the day of the event, as well as recreational games, one-on-one conversations, and cocktail dates. At the end of the event, submit a paper listing the 1st to 3rd person you like. The parties will be individually notified the following day whether the final couple is successful or not. The plan is to provide matched couples with date tickets up to 10 million won, depending on the final number of couples, to help them create special memories.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government explained that it planned this event for young people who cannot find opportunities to meet the opposite sex. According to a PMI survey last year, 64.6% of 3,000 men and women aged 20 to 69 nationwide answered that they were ‘not in a relationship.’ Of these, 18% said ‘because there was no opportunity to meet them’. Kim Seon-soon, head of the Seoul City Gender Equality and Family Office, said, “Through this event, we hope that the younger generation will have a more open mind and a positive perception of dating.”
