A job fair is being held for marriage immigrants who settled in Korea after marrying a Korean.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 3rd that it will hold the ‘2024 Marriage Immigrant Job Fair’ at Seoul Family Plaza at noon on the 5th. At the fair, 15 companies looking to hire marriage immigrants will participate and conduct one-on-one on-site interviews. The employment consulting center will also provide resume and interview consulting to strengthen job seekers’ employment capabilities, job search using job cards, and labor consultation. For marriage immigrants who have difficulty participating in the fair due to poor Korean skills, a webpage will be operated with event venue information and recruitment information translated into five languages ​​(Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese). Any marriage immigrant who wants to find a job can participate in the fair. Lee Hae-sun, Seoul City’s Global City Policy Officer, said, “I hope that through this fair, marriage immigrants will explore various industries and find employment opportunities.”

According to the city, the percentage of marriage immigrants and naturalized citizens who have stayed in the country for more than 15 years increased from 27.6% in 2018 to 39.9% in 2021. A city official said, “We are strengthening support as the percentage of immigrants who have settled and are living in the country has increased,” and “In addition to employment information, we plan to create a space for marriage immigrants to share employment issues and difficulties they commonly experience.”
