The subsidy for unemployed people over 52 years of age has two peculiarities that differentiate it from the rest of the aid offered by the State Public Employment Service (SEPE). The first is its duration, since it can be collected until retirement if until then the recipient continues to meet the requirements to receive it. And the second is that, despite being non-contributory, it contributes towards the pension.

Furthermore, since March 2019, this contribution has improved in recent years thanks to the replacement of the old subsidy for those over 55 years of age with the current one. Previously, the SEPE contributed 100% of the minimum base in force at any given time for the worker, compared to the current 125%. Given that in 2023 the minimum base established is 1,166.70 euros per month, each recipient of this aid contributes for a base of 1,458.37 euros per month.

For discontinuous permanent workers under 52 years of age, it is also possible to access this aid if they prove 180 days or more of contributions and the loss of employment has occurred before March 2, 2022, the first 60 days of collecting the subsidy contribute to The retirement. The retirement contribution base in this case is the minimum Social Security contribution limit in force at any given time.

On the other hand, this contribution also serves to complete the time necessary to access early retirement. However, they will not serve to prove the minimum contribution period which, on the other hand, should have already been accredited at the time of the subsidy application.
