Unemployed people over the age of 52 are a group whose employment situation is more complicated than for other age groups. For this reason, SEPE gives them a specific grant to provide them with economic stability and give them entry into different work programs and other types of work that help them find a new job. Therefore, there are certain guidelines that must be met both to access the benefit and to maintain it and not fall into serious violations that lead to termination.

Among the requirements to be a recipient is to have reached the stated age, have completed the contribution benefit or unemployment benefit and have contributed between 90 and 359 days, among others. And once you have received help, two rules stand out that must be complied with above all violations. It is about organizing personal work or work, except in the case of part-time work; refuse the offer of appropriate employment, unless justified, and refuse to participate in social cooperation work or work programs offered by public employment services.

The duration of this benefit will be extended until ordinary retirement age, the age required to be entitled to a contributory pension in the Social Security system. The monthly amount of the unemployment benefit is equal to 80% of the public income index (IPREM). that is, 480 euros according to the number set in 2023.

SEPE will pay Social Security contributions corresponding to retirement. The basic pension contribution will be 125% of the minimum contribution amount in force at any time. In addition, the payment of the grant will be made in monthly installments of 30 days. However, the agency requires compliance with certain rules that, if not met, may lead to the termination of the benefit. This is a situation that will be maintained after the aid reform that will come into force on November 1 in SEPE.

The Public Service Agency (SEPE) will close the assistance package especially in the event of a very serious crime. These are the essays:

– Acting fraudulently with the intention of obtaining undue or superior benefits. Even when your enjoyment is “infinitely late” by providing false data or documents, simulation of the work relationship and the elimination of mandatory declarations, or other non-compliance that may cause fraudulent charges.

-Request or receive assistance in accordance with personal work or work for others, except in the case of part-time work.

– Agree with the employer to receive unfair assistance.

– Do not distribute or change the amount of the grant in accordance with the provisions of the work promotion programs.

The aid will also be terminated when the recipient commits a third serious crime. With the first and second you will be removed for 3 and 6 months respectively. These are the essays:

– Do not inform SEPE of the withdrawal of the grant when there are reasons to suspend or terminate it, or when the necessary requirements to receive aid are not met.

– Don’t make an offer, unless it’s justified.

-Refuse to participate in social work or work programs offered by public employment services, except for justified reasons. However, SEPE explained that this violation will be punished with the immediate termination of assistance, even if it is the first one to do it.

SEPE will also permanently remove the grant when the recipient commits a fourth minor violation. It should be noted that with the first, second and third will be suspended for one month, three or six months respectively. These are the reasons:

-Failure to appear before SEPE in the manner and on the date indicated (except for a justified reason) when called in advance.

-Failure to return within the deadline to the public employment service or cooperative company the evidence shown in the indicated place and date to cover the job offers provided by said companies.

-Failure to comply with the requirements of professional commitment as long as this behavior is not classified as another minor or major crime.

-Failure to provide public employment services with the necessary information to receive notifications and communications.

– Does not meet the requirement to be registered as a job seeker.
