In September, the programming of the District Institute of Arts – Idartes at the Cinemateca de Bogotá offers various activities for its visitors, focusing on classic, Colombian, children’s, youth, senior films, Mubi Fest, the Childhood and Adolescence Film Festival, the French Film Festival, among others.
Until December 1, the Gallery exhibits the exhibition The Film Groups in Cali: Revealed Archives a showcase around the emblematic Cali Group, which stems from the donations received in recent years from the personal archives of Luis Ospina, Carlos Mayolo, and Andrés Caicedo. The Cinemateca de Bogotá of the District Institute of Arts – Idartes opens them to its audiences to build narratives around the history of the so-called Cali Group, its genealogy, its ramifications, and its multiplicity.
Arriving at the Room E, the exhibition The Magic Box, 70 Years of Colombian Television (September 13 to October 20) celebrates the 70th anniversary of the first television broadcast in Colombia. The exhibition explores more than five decades of productions from the Audiovisual Archive of Caracol Televisión (ARCA).
The National Premieres section presents: Tumbadores, The Worst So Far, Until the Sun Goes Out, The Incredulous, Malta, Hummingbird, Dreams Travel with the Wind, Equalized, Us, Red River and In Shadows. Meanwhile, among this month’s international premieres, there will be: The Substance, State of Silence, The Dining Room Table, Tomorrow We Will Always Have, Saint Omer, The Last Bar, The King’s Favorite, Orlando, My Political Biography and Crossroads (Caminos cruzados).
The programming designed for children and kids will feature in the Children’s Section The Inseparables and in the Youth Section with I Am María. Complementing the programming, the Memory Section will present Red Light and in the Classics Section will be Blow-Up. Additionally, the Colombian Cinema Section dedicated to the exhibition The Film Groups in Cali will present Ballad for Dead Children.
On another note, the Vive la Cinemateca Section within the framework of the XVII Dance Festival in the City will present Synchronia, Triptych Nation, Conatus, In the Shadow of the Morichal, Similar Clothing Video Dance and Process Salmona. Additionally, the Gothic in the Tropics program will screen two short films Red Mangrove and Paloquemao: The Vampire Market. Furthermore, the Colombian Film Heritage Foundation will present archival images dedicated to The Evolution of Acting in Colombia, Critique and Women in Acting, and Acting and Its Impact on Colombian Collective Memory. To conclude this section, the screening of Acuatenientes.
This month, the Section for Diverse Abilities presents the film I Saw Three Black Lights by Santiago Lozano with screenings accessible to Deaf persons (LSC and CC) and for persons with visual disabilities (audio description) and the Senior Citizen Programming will screen Visa USA by Lisandro Duque with free entrance.
For the followers of the Local Section , the program Tell Me Another Story Before Sleeping: Small Ways to Say Home will bring together four audiovisual works: The Orange Umbrella, Night Light, Dyslexia and Color-ido. The screening will have free entry with a meeting with the creators.
On another note, Bogoshorts Special Cinemateca # 100 will feature a program of four short films including: Pink Dolphins, Pirsas, Tomorrow and Habitat.
And to close the film programming, this month’s festivals are: Eureka University Film Festival (September 1 to 7), International Christian Film Festival (September 3 to 7), MUBI Fest (September 6 to 8), Childhood and Adolescence Film Festival (September 7 to 13), #NarrateTheFuture: XI Film & New Media Festival (September 10 to 14), University Film and Audiovisual Festival Equinoxio (September 14 to 20), SALVAJE – International Social and Community Film Festival (September 17 to 21), Quebecine Tour (September 18 and 19), French Film Festival (September 25 to 29) and the Unconventional Festival (September 28 and 29).
The Specialized Library in Film and Audiovisual Media – BECMA presents a schedule designed for various types of audiences, consisting of the following activities: Presentation of books The Cinema of John Ford, The Cinema of Pasolini, The Cinema of Jean-Luc Godard, extended Frame Workshops – Graphic Pieces of Cinema in Augmented Reality, Guided Tour Game by BECMA: Find the Treasure, Create Your Stop Motion and Creation of Plant Images: Experimentation with Anthotypy. Furthermore, a reading club Audiovisual Narratives of Our Territory and the laboratory The Creation of Dreams: Reality or Fantasy?
In the Local Cinematecas located in the Happiness Centers CEFE – El Tunal (Tunjuelito locality) and Fontanar del Río (Suba locality) , you will find a varied program with screenings from Friday to Sunday with free entry, check here for the programming.
