Serbia Claims Gold in Basketball at the Olympics
The Serbian basketball team redeemed themselves from their loss in last year’s World Cup final by claiming gold at the Olympic Games after an eight-year hiatus. Previously, they had secured silver medals in both the 2016 Rio de Janeiro and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Notably, the German national team has never won an Olympic basketball medal.
Nikola Jokic was a standout performer, achieving a “triple double” with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Vasilije Micič contributed 19 points, while Bogdan Bogdanović scored 16 points for the winners.
Franz Wagner led the German team with 18 points, while Moritz Wagner scored 16 points.
In tonight’s final at 22.30, the US and French basketball teams will battle for the gold medal.
The Olympic Games are ongoing in the French capital until August 11th. The Games are not limited to Paris, with events also taking place in 16 other locations, including the French overseas territory of French Polynesia. The program features 32 sports, and a total of 329 medals will be awarded.
